The Aswang manufactured by Tuya, is a compact fixed blade karambit knife, characterized by a single edge blade with a pronounced swedge for capturing and controlling techniques. The blade is optimized for hooking, tearing, ripping, slicing with maximum efficiency and minimal effort.
The knife name comes from the famous evil spirits of Filipino folklore. Usually, the Aswang is a woman during the day. During the night, Aswangs shift into a form that is better suited to hunting. Different regional versions of the creature are said to take different forms (such as vampires, ghouls, witches, viscera suckers, and werewolves). The myth tells that if the Aswang touches someone's shadow, he will be short-lived.
The Aswang, designed by Alessandra De Santis (aka Hydra Design), is made in D2 steel with a darkwashed finish. It features a blade 65 mm long and 4.5 mm thick and an original octagonal ring with chamfered edges, to ensure a comfortable grip on the instrument during use. The karambit overall length is of 165 mm.
