Hel knife, designed by Alessandra De Santis (a.k.a. Hydra Design), is one of the lightest and most compact folding karambits on the market, making it a great tactical concealed carry knife, but also an everyday-friendly tool.
Indeed, with a weight of only 93g, you forget you have it in your pocket. Even when closed, its size is definitely reduced, without however sacrificing the length of the blade, which is of 61 mm.
The name Hel, comes from Norse mythology, and originally was the name of the world of the dead; it later came to mean the goddess of death. Hel is described as a somewhat two fold woman: with half a black or corpse face and the other half normal. This could be reflected in the two available karambit colors: the all-black version and the grey one.
The HEL karambit features a single edge blade optimized for hooking, tearing, ripping, slicing with maximum efficiency and minimal effort. It is equipped with a thumb-stud that allows the blade to be instantly deployed as the knife is drawn from a pocket.
The textured G10 handle scales offer a firmly and comfortable grip on the knife, favoring an excellent control on the tool. The karambit is characterized by an original octagonal ring, a peculiar feature that identifies the style of Hydra Design.
The octagonal ring has also a functional aspect: indeed it provides a firmer grip even when the knife is turned outward from the hand, and can be locked with the fingers at various angles. It can also be a little more effective (compared to a circular ring) if used in percussion strikes, in a self-defense context.
But that's not all. The octagon also has a symbolic meaning: the octagonal shape is the symbol of the resurrection, of the eternal life. The number 8 is universally the number of cosmic balance.
