HONOS is an utility knife designed specifically at the request of some operators of an Italian Special Forces Unit TIER 1.
The name Honos was chosen because in Imperial Rome it was considered the god of military honor and morality. He was generally depicted as a young warrior, naked or togate, who carried a spear or an olive branch and a cornucopia. Often he was depicted together with Virtus; Mars, the god of war, was in fact accompanied by two companions Honos (the Honor) and Virtus (the Virtue) as they represent the two faces of the qualities of a good soldier.
The HONOS knife, designed by Alessandra De Santis, is a full tang made of Niolox steel (hardened to 59 HRC and subjected to a cryogenic treatment) with a stonewash or darkwash finish; it has a total length of 245 mm, a 115 mm long blade with a thickness of 5 mm.
The knife is distinguished by a guard with 2 triangular holes which, together with the hole on the end of the handle, refer the three-headed Hydra of the logo.
The handle scales, made of black G10, have a three-dimensional texture that offers a comfortable and safe grip also with gloves.
The weight of the instrument is 230 g, less than a full magazine of a glock!
The Kydex sheath is handmade by Gianluca Farini (OBE), and comes with a rubber IWB belt loop, also compatible with the MOLLE system.
